Job Title: ERCOT Process Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced ERCOT Process SME with deep expertise in large load onboarding within the ERCOT market. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the full lifecycle from customer request through interconnection and energization along with hands-on experience in feasibility analysis, load forecasting, and transmission capacity planning. This role requires close collaboration with utilities, engineering teams, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure efficient and compliant grid integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage large load onboarding processes within the ERCOT market
Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle, including customer request, interconnection, and energization
Perform feasibility studies, load forecasting, and capacity assessments
Navigate ERCOT interconnection procedures, including screening and full interconnection studies
Track and manage interconnection queues, timelines, and key milestones
Coordinate with Transmission Service Providers (TSPs), utilities, and other stakeholders
Evaluate transmission and substation capacity constraints and planning requirements
Identify grid limitations, congestion risks, and recommend mitigation strategies
Align customer load requirements with available utility infrastructure
Collaborate with engineering, regulatory, and construction teams for project execution
Support commercial activities including tariffs, service agreements, and construction aid
Ensure compliance with ERCOT protocols and regulatory standards
Monitor process tracking, risks, and escalation mechanisms
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven hands-on experience working within the ERCOT market
Strong knowledge of interconnection processes and grid operations
Experience in load forecasting, feasibility analysis, and capacity planning
Understanding of transmission systems and substation design/planning
Familiarity with energy sector regulations and compliance standards
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and drive cross-functional coordination
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
Experience working with large industrial loads, data centers, or renewable energy projects
Knowledge of ERCOT market rules, nodal market structure, and settlement processes
Background in power systems engineering or utility planning
PMP or similar project management certification
