
TxDOT's Tyler District is seeking a Director of Transportation Operations.
This challenging and rewarding role oversees daily traffic operations and requires ongoing, effective collaboration with key external and internal stakeholders. The selected candidate will provide strategic direction to district staff across relevant program areas. Responsibilities include managing engineering, construction, and operations for traffic signals, ITS assets and the district's traffic safety program.
Salary Grade/Range: (B31): $123,252- $208,449/yearly

Oversees the Transportation Operations function for a district's highways and facilities in accordance with Department standards. Reporting directly to the District Engineer, manages a group of professional, technical and administrative employees and may oversee district wide construction contract work concerning transportation operations. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
7 years of experience in transportation engineering in the construction of highways, bridges or structures. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver’s license at time of application. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Texas Licensed Prof Engineer*
*Professional engineers licensed in another state in the United States, but not currently licensed in the State of Texas, must (1) meet the license requirements of the State of Texas Engineering Practices Act, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the State of Texas within six (6) months of the date of hire, and (3) sign an agreement to that effect as a condition of employment.
