Foundation Medicine is focused on advancing precision medicine through genomic profiling. The Senior Manager, Business Development is responsible for developing and executing strategies to acquire and manage partnerships within the biopharmaceutical sector, ensuring partners benefit from FMI’s comprehensive portfolio of solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Executes on Business Development components of the account plan across cardiometabolic, neuro-degenerative, and autoimmune/inflammatory areas, including generating new strategic partnerships based on areas of alignment between FMI's solutions portfolio and the customer's needs
- Collaborate closely with other BioPharma Business Development leads to advance and execute opportunities within existing accounts
- Owns partnership deals from beginning to end, from identifying and pitching compelling use cases of FMI solutions for cardiometabolic, neuro-degenerative, and autoimmune/inflammatory areas through deal negotiation and execution, with a moderate degree of senior Business Development support from their direct manager
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders at partner organizations to proactively identify and expand business opportunities across the BioPharma solutions portfolio
- Captures voice-of-customer to inform internal product strategy, and marketing positions
- Contributes to the overall development of the BioPharma solutions portfolio by providing feedback to the Strategic Insights, Analytics, and Enablement (SIA&E) team
- Receives internal and external support from BioPharma Partnership Development pod leader on certain strategic deals or accounts
- Travels domestically and internationally at least 15% of the time
- Other projects as periodically assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
- 5+ years of professional experience in the biopharmaceutical, diagnostic, clinical trials, or regulatory affairs industry
- Master's Degree and/or PhD in a business or scientific discipline focused on cardiometabolic, neuro-degenerative, autoimmune/inflammatory or molecular biology
- 4+ years of operational business development work or academic experience, including work with implementation within a large organization
- Direct professional experience in sales and/or business development in a healthcare setting
- Demonstrated record of high productivity and results
- Demonstrated evidence of success working in a cross-functional environment
- Strong knowledge of cardiometabolic, neuro-degenerative, and/or autoimmune/inflammatory market
- Familiarity with data science, including statistics, clinical research, and analytics
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to generate reports and presentations
- Ability to begin and complete all assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to understand and communicate scientific or technical information
- Ability to work across multi-disciplinary groups and to lead decision-making discussions
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and collaborative skills with individuals, groups, and senior management
- Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills
- Strong writing, presentation, organizational and project management skills
- Proactive initiative in communications and initiative in building strong relationships
- Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
