Smithfield Foods is an American food company with a leading position in packaged meats and fresh pork products. They are seeking a Senior Sales Account Manager to handle larger, high-value accounts, drive sales, and foster long-term relationships with customers while collaborating with internal teams.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for achieving budgeted sales of consumer goods to key customers
- Develop and achieve maximum sales volume consistent with sales projections for accounts served
- Maintain business with existing accounts for continued growth
- Drive the discovery and use of consumer and customer insights to enhance sales performance with our customers
- Implement and execute Smithfield sales plans to promote product lines
- Maintain current knowledge of Smithfield’s product management, marketing, R&D efforts in order to increase sales and satisfy customer demands for new items
- Cultivate business relations with personnel at various levels in order to communicate product availability, logistics information, product specifications, and pricing as needed
- Ensure prompt and equitable disposition of customer complaints or problems; this may require communication with corporate headquarters
- Drives a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee development and coaching
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or related field and 8+ years' relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required
- 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership is required
- Work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
- Respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
- Knowledge of the dynamics of the food business industry or retail channels
- Experience of customer-focused and fact-based selling, including IRI, Nielsen and Perishable Group data
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
- High level of written and verbal communication skills, organizational planning, and adaptability
- Respectful, approachable and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
- Ability to work well in fast paced, dynamic environment
- Possess a valid driver's license
- May travel up to 75% of the time
