Description
The Production Control Planner coordinates and expedites the flow of jobs and materials within or between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules. The Planner is responsible for the planning of all work orders, reducing past due jobs and communicating changes of work orders and material status. Develops and communicates the build schedule to Production, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Quality, Mfg. Engineering and Program Management Departments. Supports Continuous Improvement to improve quality, reduce lead times and achieve organizational goals. Duties include creating/distributing weekly production schedules, monitors/adjusts the status of build schedules and communicating shipment schedules.
What you will be responsible for:
- Ensure all work orders contain the correct versions of drawings, designs, programs and methods.
- Creates build schedule and prioritizes jobs for organization to meet ship dates.
- Assists in the creation of capacity plans.
- Reports on the hours, equipment and raw materials variances used to produce jobs.
- Communicates schedule performance by conferring with Production Leadership.
- Verifies that all jobs are transacted completely in MRP, reports on delays in transaction workflow and works with Production, Shipping, Purchasing Customer Care and Quality to get closed.
- Communicates when expedites of operations and materials are required and develops recovery schedules for organization to meet unforeseen conditions. Works with Department Leaders to ensure execution of work orders by Build Schedule.
- Act upon the disposition of Non-Conformance Reports to ensure that replacement or rework jobs are replanned within the current schedule.
- Recommends alternative Build Plans for assigned department/program. Assists other Planners and Buyers to implement the assigned planning and scheduling tools for their department/program areas of responsibilities.
- Support configuration changes by advising best “SS Cut-in” dates approved through the Change Control Board.
- Provides the necessary information for the Production Control Centre of Excellence Board to ensure it is up to date and correct.
- Promotes a culture of safety by monitoring self and others to ensure all duties are performed within the guidelines as specified by the ZACS Safety Manual.
- Interface effectively with all members of Management, other departments, and co-workers
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
What you will need to be successful in this role:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills with familiarity of ERP systems
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- 5 yrs. of Planning and/or Supervisory experience in manufacturing environment
- Must possess good interpersonal skills with strong desire to work in a teamwork environment.
- Previous Production Control experience preferred.
- Experience in Capacity Planning preferred.

- Normal office environment where approximately 80% of work is performed in a sitting position with the remaining time walking and moving around the office, stores, and manufacturing areas
- Must be able to work effectively at video display terminals for extended periods of time.
- Normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination for keyboard operations is necessary approximately 80% of the time.
- Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required.
- Duties require typical bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, etc. with lifting typically limited to 10-20 lbs. maximum.
