About the Role
We’re seeking a capable and proactive Human Resources Officer to support our high‑performing team on the Tonkin Extension Project. In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of end‑to‑end human resources and industrial relations activities, ensuring compliance, supporting a positive workforce culture, and contributing to overall project success. Working closely with the Project HR Manager, project leadership and site teams, you will play a key role in implementing and maintaining HR and IR processes aligned with BMD’s values and operational objectives.
- This role is a site based (Byford Location) Fixed Term Contract role for the duration of the Tonkin Extension Project.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver end‑to‑end recruitment for white‑collar roles, including advertising, screening, coordinating interviews, reference checks, and preparing offers.
- Support industrial relations activities, including preparing documentation, gathering information, and assisting with the management of employee and IR matters.
- Provide first‑line HR advice and guidance to BMD management on employee relations, workforce movements, and retention, escalating complex issues where required.
- Coordinate staff relocations in conjunction with the Travel and Procurement team, ensuring efficient mobilisation and demobilisation processes.
- Contribute to the development, review and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Support early talent and attraction activities, including participation in university career fairs and engagement programs.
- Deliver generalist HR support across the project, contributing to workforce planning and HR-related initiatives.

- Perform other duties as directed from time to time to support project and business needs.
- Willingness to travel interstate if and when required.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a HR generalist or project-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment legislation, and industrial relations principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive matters.
- A proactive and solutions‑focused approach with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
