Geotechnical Project Manager

Moab Geotechnical Group is seeking a Geotechnical Project Manager to lead geotechnical projects from initiation through completion. The role oversees technical quality, investigations and analysis, reporting, field activities, client relationships, and coordination and development of staff.

Responsibilities:

• The ability to manage a small to medium sized projects through the design, preparation, and implementation phases of a project
• Serve as the geotechnical technical authority, providing peer review, quality oversight, and sign-off on geotechnical deliverables
• Oversee quality control, conduct engineering studies and investigations, and prepare and review design reports, progress reports, and project completion reports
• Plan, perform, and manage complex and dynamic field exploration programs, including material characterization and laboratory testing of soil and rock materials
• Oversee and perform geotechnical analysis including material characterization, slope stability, settlement, liquefaction, and deformation
• Experience and ability to perform risk assessment analysis to support project development and recommendations
• Maintain positive client relationships to support business development efforts
• Supervise field activities, including drilling and testing operations either performed by you or other staff
• Serve as a mentor and example to junior level staff to support their development and growth within the company by demonstrating best safety practices and promoting responsible decision making
• Perform other duties as needed
• As a Geotechnical Engineer Project Manager, your primary responsibility will be to function as the point of contact and lead on a project through its entire lifetime
• Your role will require the ability to make critical decisions to minimize delays and execute deliverables in accordance with the project scope
• Your role will require the ability to coordinate staff involvement, resource allocation, and scheduling to complete tasks while ensuring quality results
• You will be responsible for conducting and preparing geotechnical evaluation reports and reviewing reports prepared by other staff, including foundation, pavement, and slope stability analyses
• You will make design recommendations and perform field testing as needed or coordinate junior staff performing these tasks and review their work

Requirements:

• The ability to manage a small to medium sized projects through the design, preparation, and implementation phases of a project
• Experience and ability to perform risk assessment analysis to support project development and recommendations
• 10 years relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or similar advanced applied science field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Experience leading tasks with effective delegation and team collaboration
• Can contribute towards the process of proposal development including project scoping, fee estimating, and review and negotiation of contracts
• Can contribute towards strategic growth initiatives, market positioning, and technical capability development
• Have experience with large scale federal or DOT projects
