The National Manager, Email Marketing will lead our email marketing initiatives with an emphasis on growing, engaging, and retaining our email audience to drive measurable increases in fundraising revenue, recurring giving, and donor engagement
Plan, build, and deploy all outbound fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship emails working in partnership with key ALF departments
Design, build, and optimize lifecycle automation (welcome, nurture, reactivation, recurring donor, event flows) to increase LTV and retention
Maintain a master content calendar to coordinate cross-functional needs (events, development, programs, research, advocacy)
Develop scalable list acquisition strategies (lead magnets, paid/organic partnerships, event capture, website optimization) to grow qualified subscribers
Manage audience segmentation and personalization strategies to deliver relevant, timely messages
Review content and creative assets with an eye for conversion optimization, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness
Use A/B and multivariate testing for subject lines, content, calls-to-action, send times, and segmentation to maximize engagement and conversions
Own performance reporting and translate campaign data into clear optimization roadmaps that improve revenue per subscriber and list health
Collaborate with digital engagement team to align messaging and improve user journeys across channels
Analyze campaign performance and suggest improvements
Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for email marketing best practices
Proofread emails for clarity, grammar and spelling
Ensure mobile-friendly email templates.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Digital Marketing or related field
3–5+ years of hands-on email marketing experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization; e-commerce or direct-to-consumer marketing experience a plus
Proven track record of managing complex email calendars and automated flows that drive measurable revenue growth
Strong grasp of segmentation, personalization, deliverability, and list maintenance
Must be data-driven and highly analytical, with demonstrated ability to translate performance data into actionable insights
Hands-on experience with CRM and ESP platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud, HubSpot, Marketing Cloud, etc.)
Experience with improving conversion rates and sustaining growth with current email subscribers
Experience with event promotion and the advancement of awareness/educational content is highly recommended
Demonstrated ability to translate donor insights into segmented, conversion-focused messaging
Experience building strategic testing roadmaps that drive measurable performance gains
