About this role
Role Overview
Arrange transportation with a strong focus on ocean and air freight.
Create shipment files, arrange pickups and obtain required documents for domestic and international transport; act as an intermediary between parties to provide shipment status updates.
Follow standard operating procedures and checklists to ensure consistency and minimize errors.
Enter shipment and booking details accurately and in a timely manner into approved freight platforms; submit all required documentation (e.g., Master, AES, ACI, EDI, booking confirmations, etc.) and generate invoices.
Use approved external vendors to arrange the movement of goods. Resolve misunderstandings and disputes promptly to ensure safe, on-time deliveries.
Ensure safe execution of transportation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Manage shipments from open to close — oversee all daily operational activities and finalize files for accounting.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience in the freight forwarding industry, with a strong emphasis on ocean and air freight.
Graduate of an accredited freight forwarding/shipping program, with solid proficiency in freight management platforms.
Deep knowledge and hands-on expertise with Canadian import and export regulations.
Proactive, collaborative team player with excellent customer service skills.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact with customers, carriers, other forwarders, and suppliers.
Strong proficiency with PC applications and the Microsoft Office suite.
Fluency in English and French for communications with customers and corporate headquarters.
Prior work experience in Canada or direct experience working with Canadian industries.
