Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP) provides industry-leading management consulting and technology deployment solutions. They are seeking a highly motivated entry level Business Development Representative to drive growth by generating and nurturing qualified leads in the state and local government sector.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct outbound prospecting through cold calling, email, and LinkedIn outreach to state and local government prospects
- Research target accounts, agencies, and stakeholders to identify decision-makers and sales opportunities
- Build and maintain targeted prospect lists aligned to priority markets and active campaigns
- Execute daily outreach activities to support pipeline generation goals
- Conduct qualification calls to understand high-level business needs, current challenges, and buying timelines
- Assess prospect fit based on defined qualification criteria and route qualified opportunities to the sales team
- Schedule introductory meetings between qualified prospects and sales leaders
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of outreach, conversations, and outcomes in CRM
- Partner closely with the marketing manager to support demand generation campaigns through targeted prospect outreach
- Support follow-up outreach for marketing-driven leads from webinars, events, and conferences
- Provide feedback on campaign messaging based on prospect conversations and objections
- Share insights from sales interactions to inform content themes and targeting strategies
- Conduct pre-RFP research on state and local government agencies, including budget allocations, funding sources, and procurement trends
- Analyze public-sector budget data, strategic plans, and historical RFP activity to identify emerging opportunities
- Identify patterns and trends across agencies that can inform prospecting priorities and campaign focus areas
- Develop and share research-based insights and campaign ideas with the marketing team to support data-informed planning
- Maintain summaries of key findings to support sales positioning and early-stage opportunity development
- Track and report on outreach activity, qualification outcomes, and research findings
- Continuously refine prospecting and research approaches based on performance and feedback
- Build expertise in public-sector procurement cycles, funding mechanisms, and buying behaviors
Requirements:
- 1 year of sales experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or IT services
- Experience conducting meetings with leads with the goal being to gather basic business needs to qualify the lead
- Self-starter, able to execute independently and work cross-functionally
