Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, and ensure timely processing of transactions.
Enter financial transactions into internal databases, reconcile bank statements, and verify data for accuracy to maintain clean and reliable financial records.
Monitor outstanding check vendor balances and initiate follow-up to ensure timely payments.
Monitor accounts to identify overdue payments and initiate collection activities.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports and budgets and provide necessary documentation for audits.
Identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and recommend improvements to strengthen financial processes and workflows.
Handle communication with vendors and clients regarding billing, payments, and other financial inquiries.
Helps foster and implement the council’s commitment to diversity across volunteers, staff, vendors and program participants.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A positive attitude, integrity, and interest in serving our mission of helping girls reach their fullest potential.
Associate degree or certificate in accounting or related field is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.
Knowledge of journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable and reconciliations.
Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent attention to detail, with high accuracy in data entry and financial calculations.
Experience using POS system preferred.
Excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and active listening skills.
Ability to be creative and flexible in responding to changing priorities and emerging needs.
Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize and meet deadlines, and to manage several activities simultaneously.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team.
Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues promptly.
