Storable is redefining property management for specialty real estate, and they are seeking a Director of Engineering Partnerships to lead contractor governance strategy across engineering. The role involves establishing performance KPIs, evaluating contractor effectiveness, and ensuring operational alignment while partnering with engineering leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Design and lead contractor governance strategy across engineering
- Establish clear productivity and performance KPIs for third-party engineering teams
- Define and enforce SLAs aligned to engineering delivery standards
- Evaluate contractor effectiveness across multiple vendors
- Partner with VPs and Directors of Engineering to assess where contractors are accelerating outcomes, and where they are not
- Create visibility into total cost of ownership and contractor ROI
- Recommend vendor consolidation, renegotiation, conversion to FTE, or exit strategies when necessary
- Ensure contractor onboarding, access, security, and operational alignment are consistent and scalable
- Build a repeatable governance model that balances speed, accountability, and cost discipline
Requirements:
- A foundation in software engineering or technical program leadership
- Experience operating inside blended FTE + contractor environments
- Direct ownership of contractor governance, vendor performance, or engineering workforce strategy
- Comfort defining delivery KPIs (velocity, predictability, quality, cost efficiency)
- Experience having hard conversations around performance and vendor accountability
- Ability to speak both 'engineering' and 'business' fluently
